Farm Provides a Deep Connection with the Natural World

Living on a farm offers a unique and fulfilling experience that reconnects individuals with nature, fosters a sense of self-sufficiency, and provides a serene and balanced lifestyle. The beauty of farm life lies in the simplicity and harmony it offers, allowing residents to escape the fast-paced and often chaotic urban environments. Surrounded by vast open spaces, rolling fields, and the symphony of farm animals, living on a farm provides a deep connection with the natural world.

The farm becomes a place of constant discovery and learning. From tending to crops and nurturing livestock to embracing sustainable practices, residents gain a profound understanding of the interdependence between humans, animals, and the environment. They develop valuable skills in agriculture, animal husbandry, and land stewardship, fostering a sense of empowerment and self-reliance.

Naturally Grown Produce

Local agriculture sustains vibrant communities. That’s why we’ve incorporated farmland on the Red Barn campus. Our farmers produce crops without relying on chemical pesticides, synthetic fertilizers or practices that degrade the soil, water or other natural resources. By growing a variety of plants and using techniques like crop rotation, cover cropping, livestock husbandry and minimum tillage, our urban farm is working to protect this special ecosystem.

It doesn’t get much fresher than this! Order produce through our online store, select a delivery or pickup location and have fresh goodies harvested and ready for you that week!

Rotational Farming & Grazing

Crop rotation includes growing different crops in the same area for sequenced seasons to increase soil fertility and reduce erosion. Sustainable farming techniques like these promote and protect the environment—causes near and dear to our hearts. It’s why we’ll be moving our garlic and other crops around the Red Barn property year after year.

True Farm to Table

Living at Red Barn means you have direct access to locally grown produce. How’s that for closing the farm-to-table gap? We encourage you to take part in this farm-centric community and get to know your farmers. Enjoy a walk around the farm or a stroll through the flowers. Farm dinners, yoga, music and workshops will be right outside your door.
